Hello all my name is Cayton! I am a third year here a Colorado State University Pueblo! I am a Bachelor of Fine Art with an emphasis in ceramics and painting. I was born and raised in Colorado and I will probably never leave! I do all art forms; any material I can get my hands on I will use. I also enjoy skateboarding and wake surfing/skating.
An art work I consider beautiful would be The Lovers by Rene Magritte. She painted this piece in 1928 and it lives at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The piece has two individuals one man one women embracing with their heads covered with cloth. You can tell it is a man and woman because of the attire exposed at their shoulders. The man and woman are kissing through the cloth fabric. To me this piece represents blind love. A common theme in Magritte's work is frustrated desires or desires just out of reach. This painting is one of a series of four.

Nice to meet you Cayton! I'm India Beach. I love the picture of you with your award. I'm guessing you painted that artwork your standing in front of. It is beautiful! I'm glad you're pursuing a Bachelors of Fine Art. The painting you posted for review, The Lovers by Rene Magritte, is also beautiful in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI think The Lovers really demonstrates all the aspects of a beautiful painting that we discussed over ZOOM this week. I think this painting evokes a lot of emotions associated with beauty such as compassion, love, and togetherness. Also, the techniques used to create this painting are very bold and that creates nice contrast between the gray tones and the lovely red color. Nice pick for the beautiful artwork! I look forward to discussing more art with you in class (and hopefully I can see some of your ceramic work too!).
